You've touched on a subjet I just LOVE to harp on =) IMHO the battle in The Way of the Warrior was kickass too, but this one has more defiant flying between pylons stuff.. which is REALLY good =) I really think that models (startrek) make much better scenes than computer generated images. CGI stuff just looks too damn unrealistic to me. Not to say that CGI doesn't have a place in the shows and battlescenes, It should be used to enhance the ships (lighting, laser/phaser/disruptor shots, makeing it look like there are more ships than there actually are, the everpresent spacial anomalys.. etc. also, there are some things that just can't be modeled... shadow ships are a good example. ... Even Star Trek Used CGI for the Crystaline Entity in The Silicon Avitar. That's just my personal taste though. Adam BTW, I heard that in The Way of The Warrier, Image G used some of the Commercially Available Klingon bird of prey models in the show. There were just too many ships needed to build everything from scratch. • a*******g@i*.******m.com 05/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC Stephen writes: >Those who fail are relegated to the Chasm of Menial Emploment, whence >can be found the Pit of Shopping Mall Store Clerks with Psych Degrees, the >Former Goth Turned Insurance Agent Lament Chamber, and Your Neighborhood >McDonalds. Or worse yet, you could end up a mortgage broker. The horror...the horror. In responce to Perrianne's inqueries: 1) I am currently working as a computer trainer (applications, internet, and a little networking) and finishing up a grad degree. 2) I did not know Lisa and Jeff were in Albany. If anyone has their telephone number or e-mail, please send it to me. Thanks. 3) Albany is a very nice place to live. The gaming is decent, although there are way too many Magic players. I have yet to find a decent group of wargamers. SF, on the other hand, is dead. That may be changing, however, as there is going to be a convention in October. It's called Albancon and I don't know much more about it. That's that big Magic: The Gathering convention. They bring in lots of the people who drew the cards and designed the game. These are brought to vast, empty ballrooms where they lecture to no one. Meanwhile hordes of MtG addicts pack the playing rooms, which have straw laid out on the floor as most players have forgotten their potty training. More seriously: SF is not dead. SF fandom is sick or dying in many places. The thoughtful creative people who made up the convention- going population has diminished and grown older. Creation cons and their ilk fill the limited needs of "commodity" SF fans; they basically consist of dealers' rooms and lecture halls. It is the business of the future to be dangerous. -- +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ ***@***.com ~ s*****s@a*****.***u.edu ~ s******j@**.com http://www.ini.cmu.edu/~sjones/ • b*****8@a******.*****x.net 08/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC In article <4ml9rt$***@p*******.**o.com>, Stefan E. ARRGH!! :( Relax, my child...you are among those like you. But don't despair. Wednesday for National Anxiety Day, so it's natural for some of the overflow to last at least a week after. Just remember, you have it lucky. You could be having finals now (that's next week :-/), but you only have to do a few time-compressed labs like me.
