Dr. Who • k*******0@k*******n.edu 15/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC For those who missed the movie I will leave some spoiler space.... S P O I L E R S P A C E "He's back, and it's about time." Well it's been a while, but our good friend, the Doctor, has finally made it back in time. And what timing he has... Dec 31, 1999. And, unfortunately for mankind, The Master is loose in San Francisco, attempting to steal the remainder of the Doctor's lives after having wasted all 13 of his, even if it means destroying the Earth as he opens the Eye of Harmony in the Tardis. Just as cheesie and as fun as ever... :) For the role of the 8th doctor, Paul McGann was chosen. An excellent choice in my humble opinion, even if he does remind one of Mr. Baker, a little. Luckily, though, he has his own personality, and is quite charming in his own right. Frankly, I must admit I was a little hesitant as I sat down to watch it. I was worried that they were going to make this the Sci Fi drama of the 90s, but instead they had a good mixture of Sci Fi, Drama, Action, a little comedy, and some cheesie scenes, improving upon the old show, rather than reworking it. This is no doubt due to the fact that the writer of this movie was one of the producers of the original show, back in 1963. To wrap up, I was quite impressed with the movie and look forward to seeing more of the Doctor in the future (or past, or wherever - whenever - he show's up). -- ****************************************************************************** Adam Kirchhoff * E-mail: k*******0@k*******n.edu Anthropology Student * http://www.kutztown.edu/~kirc5650 Kutztown University * ****************************************************************************** • s******j@**.com 15/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC Fox / the BBC are considering making more Dr. Who movies, and maybe an actual series. I think the special effects and production were *too slick* for Dr. Who. I mean, it looks like they actually spent some money. Unfortunately it only averaged a 10.5 share in each half hour time slot. They were hoping for a 17 somewhere along the way. Which means that they may not pick it up unless people write in support. A little too American for many people's taste here, but otherwise a good Dr. Who. ttyl Farrell • k*******0@k*******n.edu 17/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC Sorry about all these posts but I wanted to give everyone Fox's address.
