ALT.SF4M Can you believe it • a*******g@i*.******m.com 25/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC Howdy all, I was at work today and heard some disturbing news about a local gaming store. It's a downtown Albany wargaming shop called Runesmith. They mostly play Warhammer and other minitures games. I'd been by a number of times, but never developed any real interest. My visits had always left me wondering how the guy managed to stay in business. He didn't seem to have a lot in the way of stock. He also didn't charge for open gaming. I'd figured maybe the building was owned by a relative or he'd come into some money, like one store owner I'd known on LI. Well, I got my answer. The Albany police conducted a major drug raid on the place Wednesday night. According to the papers, the guy was involved in a large Marijuana ring. The entire second floor of the building was set up to grow the plant. We're talking multi-tiered growing facilities, UV lights, the works. To provide electricity for the operation, they'd cut into the power lines to several adjacent buildings. Oh well, more grist for the mill. Stephan, I guess you can add this to your list of gamer crimes against humanity. Kind of sucks, though; I play games to get away for this sort of thing. Except for Magic: The Gathering, I think gamers are probably less likely to do drugs then other people. But the incident will probably hurt everyone. --Stefan -- +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ ***@***.com ~ s*****s@a*****.***u.edu ~ s******j@**.com http://www.ini.cmu.edu/~sjones/ • k******d@d*****i.com 26/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC > Well, I got my answer. So THAT's why gamers always have that glazed look and are always hungry. --Doc • l******r@c******l.net 26/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC I had no idea that that drug raid was above a gaming store! Wow that surprised me! Hey you're in Albany, too? Are you a long-time Forumite like me? • j*******i@i*.******m.com 27/05/1996 00:00:000 UTC In <4o63pk$***@d**-********.**.******m.com> a*******g@i*.******m.com(Anthony Matranga) writes: > Oh well, more grist for the mill. Most '70s people at Stony Brook (except me, I was the "weenie and anti-social malcontent") would have cheered the drug culture.
