ALT.SF4M Gaming down the tubes? • m*******e@a****.***u.edu 19/06/1996 00:00:000 UTC In this area (New Jersey), a number of gaming stores have vanished and, in those which are still around, the selection of gaming supplies has diminished significantly. One store now has more space allocated to pool tables and such than to role-playing supplies. The only gaming supplies which seem to be appearing in increasing numbers are card games. Is this just a local phenomenon, or is role-playing degenerating into card gaming everywhere? Since the great strength of role playing is its flexibility and the fact that it lets the players be far more creative and imaginative than other types of games, it would be sad if it were abandoned in favor of the more structured card games where everything is pregenerated.
