Soap and Dirt • j********o@***.com 19/06/1996 00:00:000 UTC Can soap ever be dirty? Can dirt ever be clean? To illustrate, consider if one drops a bar of soap on the floor, and it gets hair and dirt on it. Ok, so it's dirty now, since the dirt is dirty. But what if one lathers the soap up but fails to get all the yuckiness off it. Is the detritus that remains now clean? Cute little video the Smashing Pumpkins have for "Tonight, Tonight." I guess that somebody got something out of film school after all. One of those old-style videos that makes you like the song when you might not otherwise. Gorno "Some people... say I'm obnoxious and lazy: I'm uneducated, my opinion means no-thing; But I know, I'm a real good dancer, I don't need to look over my shoulder To see what I don't have. Well, everybody's got their problems, That's no new news here: I'm the same old trouble that you've been havin' for years. Don't confuse the problem with the issue, girl, It's perfectly clear: It's just a human desire to have you draw near. Put your arms around me baby, Feel your breath in my ear: You can bend me, You can break me, But you better stand clear, When the walls come tumbling down. When the walls come tumbling, tumbling down." • Bruce Adelsohn 19/06/1996 00:00:000 UTC JohnGorno wrote: > Can soap ever be dirty? But "dirt" is a technical term (really, it IS!) meaning "something in a place in which it does not belong" (usually with connotations of being unwelcome there). Just think about your least favorite [fill in the blank] -- and the terms you associate with him/her/it/them. Back to sleep now, after three days of 12-hour overnight shifts staring at the monitor... - Bruce - • s******j@**.com 19/06/1996 00:00:000 UTC In article <4q8nq0$***@n*******.****.***l.com>, JohnGorno wrote: >Can soap ever be dirty? There is an answer to this...as long as it is not observed, it remains in a "Mixed State" until someone observers it...then the state vector collapes...So the correct answer to this is YES and NO. ttyl Farrell • g*****o@j******.****t.net 21/06/1996 00:00:000 UTC : > If a bar of soap falls to the ground in the middle of the woods and : > nobody is around, does it get dirty? : There is an answer to this...as long as it is not observed, it : remains in a "Mixed State" until someone observers it...then the state : vector collapes...So the correct answer to this is YES and NO.
