ALT.SF4M Diamond Age <------ Thhhhppppt! • g*****o@l**.****t.net 26/07/1996 00:00:000 UTC Well I finally finished Dimanond Age the other day. The book really never went anywhere. It had a lot of characters that would appear and then never be mentioned ever again. It really was a strange story. It was as though the Earth reached a level of technology and then fell into a new Dark Age. The only real technology around was nanotech critters and matter compilers. The whole idea of AIs and Worlds within Virtual Reality was tossed out the door. In order to run a 3D Interactive movie, they need thousands of "actors" to play out each character in the movies. They did mention in a off-hand way about our two heros from Snowcrash. They never mentioned about Cyberspace or what happened at the end of Snowcrash. The whole book was really terrible. There was a cool concept here and there, but not enough to suggest this book to anyone. --Glen • p*******x@p***.****i.com 27/07/1996 00:00:000 UTC Glen (g*****o@l**.****t.net) somehow managed to write: : Well I finally finished Dimanond Age the other day. (I might go so far as to say The Diamond Age had no story at all) and there really weren't Any interesting characters... :( -- 73 de Dave Weingart KB2CWF "Can you find the Valium? mailto:p*******x@****.com Can you bring it soon? mailto:p*******x@e******.*********n.edu Lost Johnny's out there http://www.liii.com/~phydeaux Baying at the Moon" -- Hawkwind
