NEW FORUMITES? • s******j@**.com 06/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC So, where the hell are the new batch of 4mites? I have not seen one post from sunysb in over a week. Shit. Maybe it's finally happened. The books have all been burned so the Goths can rub the ashes in wounds carved on their bodies. The computer was sold so some dweeb could buy a black-bordered Snow Goblin MTG card. The VCR and TV were burned out after a marathon showing of pseudopornographic japanese animation. Meetings consist of people eating Apple Jacks and reading Piers Anthony and shouting "Because we DO!" Ahhhhhh, fucking kids! In my day I had to walk to school. A mile and a half. Uphill. Both ways. --Stefan -- +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ ***@***.com ~ s*****s@a*****.***u.edu ~ s******j@**.com http://www.ini.cmu.edu/~sjones/ • s******j@**.com 11/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC In article <3*******.****8@**.net>, Jennifer Adams wrote: >And just so you guys don't think that the new forumites are illiterate or >somthin'... Log is very well maintained. :) Cool. That's the kind of thing I like to hear about. Now, this is interesting. Until ~93 or so, it was "The Log." Now it's Log. Is this a leak-over from the LOG, by BLAMMO commercial from Ren and Stimpy? Or has the log taken on the aspects of a living being and is therefore given a proper name? I'm not sure if I should mention it, but one of the old Logs has a coupon, made by me and still valid, for a PIZZA. I wrote it in on the day I got a royalty check for one of my games. This was around '84. --SEJ -- +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ ***@***.com ~ s*****s@a*****.***u.edu ~ s******j@**.com http://www.ini.cmu.edu/~sjones/ • a****4@f******.********n.ca 07/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC Stefan E. Or maybe it is the shock of realizing they are stuck there for months...years, maybe their entire lives! Relax, give a few weeks, and they will be s/t/e/a/l/i/n/g/ b/o/o/k/s/ reading and hanging out like every one else! ttyl Farrell • y******d@p******y.com 09/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC Hey Stefan, Don't be a schmuck. Did you stop to consider a) Classes are just starting and people might be (gasp) doing work or hanging out with people they haven't seen in a couple of months rather then posting to newsgroups? b) Alt.SF4m isn't very well propogated at Stony Brook and they probably aren't seeing half the messages and who's going to respond to yet another sex spam? c) You're probably keeping the younger group of forumites off of her by consistantly insulting them. Why come here to get insulted by someone who hasn't bothered to meet or get to know you? Personally, I found the group of forumites I met and hung out with during my return to USB last spring to be a great bunch of people just as interested as ever in SF and keeping the Forum alive. I miss them all terribly and more than ever wish I was there with them. I find your repeated putdowns of people I consider my friends to be offensive and as much as I have always liked you Stefan, I'm getting damned sick of it. This is true, but why do weeks go by with no posts by younger folks? I _do_ want to see them, which is why I bothered posting. >c) You're probably keeping the younger group of forumites off of her by > consistantly insulting them. Why come here to get insulted by >someone > who hasn't bothered to meet or get to know you? Yeesh . . . what I wrote was a humorous Worst Case Scenario. That's why I qualified it with the Up Hill, Both Ways stuff. If more Forumites post here, the obnoxious spam (which I spend a lot of time forwarding to postmasters & such) will be diluted and this group will be worth reading. It Takes a Forum to Make a Newsgroup. Or Something. -- +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ ***@***.com ~ s*****s@a*****.***u.edu ~ s******j@**.com http://www.ini.cmu.edu/~sjones/ • Jennifer Adams 11/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC Jill!!!!!!!!!!!! Your alive! Cool beans! Hope that all is well with you. Everyone here misses you and rumors of your return are always flying about (though I suspect that they are started because of denial that you left in the first place.) We are here, and we are busy. I just got my schedule together and it's a trip. 17 credits. I'm investing as much extra energy as I can manage, putting back into the forum. It's been a haven for me and I believe it desearves this. I'd love to see more old forumites attend some meetings or events! For example.. Rocky Horror Picture Show run.. this Saturday. And we always do something after meetings on Wedsnesday. And just so you guys don't think that the new forumites are illiterate or somthin'... Log is very well maintained. :) Later all! This years officers are a wonderful group of people and I expect to see many great things from them! They are already planning a plethora of new and exciting activities for this semester and are working vigorously on cateloging the mound of new books that were bought over the summer. How are things going budget-wise? RE buying books, JAM can probalby get you the address of a distributor on Staten Island that used to offer us excellent discounts. We stopped using them because Book Trader was closer, but now that she's gone it may be worth looking into them (the name was something like "Fantasy and Science Fiction Books."). -- Stefan -- +-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-+ ***@***.com ~ s*****s@a*****.***u.edu ~ s******j@**.com http://www.ini.cmu.edu/~sjones/ • **@***.com 15/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC Stefan E.
