ALT.SF4M STAR CONTROL ]I[ • g*****o@k****.****t.net 20/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC I heard that the release of Star Control 3 should be at the end of October. It was supposed to have been on store shelves on March 1st. I heard that game is going to have incredible photographic animation and Alien interaction. From what I read, it's going to be a game where you have to build colonies on other planets. I'm hoping it's not going to be a vamped up version of Masters of Orion with super graphics. I really did enjoy the first two games. Star Control 1 was just a "shoot-em-up" arcade game. Star Control 2 took the same arcade style battle action and placed it within an incredible adventure game. You have to explore the universe for natural resoures, look for allies, avoid hostile aliens and find a way to free the planet Earth from enslavement. --Glen • g*****o@k****.****t.net 24/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC Glen (g*****o@k****.****t.net) wrote: : I heard that the release of Star Control 3 should be at the end of : October. I Well I'm really surprised, I just received a call from Babbages in the Mall and they informed me that Star Control 3 has come out and they have a copy on reserve for me. Also OS/2 Merlin came out this week. Happy Week! --Glen • g*****o@k****.****t.net 25/09/1996 00:00:000 UTC : Well I'm really surprised, I just received a call from Babbages in the : Mall and they informed me that Star Control 3 has come out and they have : a copy on reserve for me. Also OS/2 Merlin came out this week. Happy Week! Simply...incredible! The graphics and voice synth of the aliens are stunning. It looks like the game developers switched over from regular computer 2D animation and used 3d animated puppetery. It's real creepy seeing this alien sitting in front of you on a 17" monitor that scratches itself or has a nervous twitch every so often. This game when fully installed on a Hard Drive take 60 megs. Of course during the install, it gives you a choice on how much space you can allocate to the game. You can install 10, 20, 40, 55 or 60 megs. The box says that it needs a minimum of a 486 DX2-66 with 8megs of memory. Well I have a DX4-100 with 8 megs and the fight scenes don't work very well. Moving objects sometimes appear as white squares. The animated movie clips seem to be choppy under 8megs. Well I'll see what happens when I swap in 16 megs in my computer. That will raise is to 20megs. --Glen "Fighting evil, fighting crime....getting there in a nick of time. HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!" -MM
