ALT.SF4M Comet • m*******e@a****.***u.edu 24/02/1997 00:00:000 UTC I finally got to see comet Hale-Bopp around 5 this morning. It was easily visible, about 10 degrees under the neck of Cygnus and about as bright as Deneb or Altair. Observing it with the small Sears telescope my parents gave me for my nineth birthday, I could see the tail extending about half a degree, perhaps a bit more. This was with a nearly full Moon in the sky. The comet should be pretty nice by late March. --- Brian
