ALT.SF4M Voyager Episode 2/26/96 • j********o@***.com 01/03/1997 00:00:000 UTC This was a pretty good episode ("Rise"). A proper SF story, like old Trek: crew members get stuck with a bunch of NPCs in an unusual and exciting set and intrigue follows. Old Trek would have managed more intrigue and character development, but still pretty good. Something Old Trek and Dr. Who shared was an understanding of the value of a neat set and setting: a fun game of "spaceship" is the result. There should have been a fight on the undercarrage of the thingy, and, in contrast with Old Trek, that silly ("wrinkled-forehead") make-up gets in the way of presenting characters I care about. I liked that Milennium with the identical blonde babes (plus the omnipresent Brad Dourif (Oscar winner, if memory serves. "Somewhere... beyond the sea...") and Dr. Simon Van....G...Gelder!) They should do more episodes like that, with a real Milennial element, instead of merely "serial killer of the week." Gorno "Her world came crashing down, And all that it contained..."
