  New Names for this group

     It would be GREAT if we could get a "Rec.*.*" group, but it would be

     very difficult. There is a semi-official process to getting one of these

     slots, because unlike "alt.*" groups they are distributed to sites that

     exercise some quality control.

     Alternative: An alt.* group that is unmistakably a science fiction
     group.

     Although the term "sci-fi" has some stigma attached to it, it is much

     les easy to mistake for something singles or sex related. So we could

     try alt.scifi4m, or alt.sci-fi-4m, or alt.sci-fiforum, etc.

         Why not "alt.sciencefiction.forum" or something like that? (Or we

         could just go with "alt.sf.forum," which would not be mistaken for a

         sex group, but would still get all the spammers.)
