ALT.SF4M IBM's Space Technology in Action • g*****o@****.net 15/07/1997 00:00:000 UTC Here is a great set of reports in how IBM is leading the way in developing CPUs for space missions; http://www.ibm.com/Stories/1997/space1.html 1) The flight computer in the Mars Pathfinder is a IBM RS/6000 CPU. 2) IBM's CPU is being used for the future DEEP SPACE mission. There is also two stories about IBM scientists explaining about weak starlight and cosmic turbulence. Funny, where is Microsoft in all of this? :) --Glen • g*****o@****.net 17/07/1997 00:00:000 UTC Fredrik Vladimir Coulter, CPA, CMA (f*******r@t*****n.com) wrote: : Since MicroSmurf doesn't build cpu's I'm not sure what the question is. : You might want to know where Intel is. Yawn. Microsoft is claiming to be the leader in all computer software and the "guiding" of hardware and driver companies by using their standard jackboot policies. If MS is such a hot shot in the computer world, how come none of their products are being used in the space programs in exploration vechicles? No room for error so they avoid anything to do with MS. --Glen
