ALT.SF4M Contact; response • Thomas M Hessel 16/07/1997 00:00:000 UTC Gorno, I agree. "Contact" sort of came short on the sci-fi end, but I don't really think myself that "Contact" was necessarily a sci-fi film. It used a sci-fi genre to play a theme of "cold" science vs. "warm" religion/faith. I give the screenwriters or whoever gets to do neat little plot thingies credit; I have NEVER seen this theme before. Not in lit., nor on the screen. Well, maybe Asimov hit at it w/ his books regarding robot/human interaction, etc. Now correct me if I'm wrong; while a sci-fi fan, I'm not cosmopolitan about it. I just speak from my experience. But, as far as film goes in general, I think "Contact" rocked. As far as sci-fi films go ... I have seen better. My two cents again, Thom =)
