ALT.SF4M SF4M: TV Night Wednesday! Woo. • John Cholewa 23/09/1997 00:00:000 UTC Since Jen has taken it upon herself to mention that TV Night is "starring" the singular South Park, I figure I should mention that this Wednesday, TV Night is nine to twelve hours strong. Along with Jim's SP tape, I have two Voyager episodes (the last two), The Visitor, Millennium, Stargate, Profiler, Simpsons (which, actually, according to one Forumite, didn't live up to expectations), King of the Hill, X-Files, Timecop (joy), and Ally McBeal. Speaking of that last show...Gorno, the last line on your post on "sf4m confusion" seems to imply that you saw and liked that show. True? Anyway, stop by the Forum for TV Night...also take the chance to pick up the night's official newsletter, Tubenacht. Oh yeah, there's like, a meeting of some sort on that evening as well. -JC (SF4MAC1/2) • j********o@***.com 26/09/1997 00:00:000 UTC In article <3*******.********8@b****m.com>, John Cholewa <**@b****m.com> writes: >Speaking of that last show...Gorno, the last line on your post on "sf4m >confusion" seems to imply that you saw and liked that show. True? I can't read the fine print in every post on this newsgroup! Not even in my own... unless it's DIRTY (pant pant). Yes, it's a boffo show, and reminiscent of "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd," (if memory serves regarding the full title), which was almost certainly before your time. Easy on the eyes, too! The opening shot of the last episode, that is, the end shot, so to speak, is surely a moment of TV greatness (right up there with the Apollo moon shot (snicker) - not to mention the full trio at the plaintiff's table, wooo wooo grrrrowwwlllll!) But, less raffishly, it's darn good, and I like the running gags ("Snappish!", "He puts his feet up...", the dancing twins) that make watching each episode essential. MILD SPOILERS for those who haven't seen it yet: The one thing I don't like are the courtroom victories: the trick they pulled in the first episode wouldn't have proven anything, and might have qualified as bribery or another disbarrable offense! And the Kate Jackson victory was B.S. on several levels. I really liked the final scene when she's sitting alone watching the "two size fours" dance with their men. Speaking of which, Courtney Thorne Smith is a hell of a babe, with a smart and wry personality, but can she really be a size four? My knowledge of such things is extremely limited, but I thought that was really small... perhaps it's based on waist size only, so a curvy woman with a tiny waist is the same size as a neat little pixie (like Kes, say). Gorno "Starfleet told us that Simulcra was an amazing duplication of Twentieth Century Earth, but nobody said what a God-awful suck-hole it would be! Do you think the Federation would mind if we turned it into an extra-large asteroid belt?"
