ALT.SF4M Letter To Captain Catherine Janeway From Mark Johnson • j********o@***.com 13/02/1998 00:00:000 UTC To: Captain Catherine Janeway From: Mark Johnson Cathy! We were so glad when Starfleet told us that you were alive and well in the Delta Quadrant, and that we could write to you! You should be very proud: your dedication and professionalism through the past three years set a wonderful example to younger officers contemplating a life of service like your own! As for us, well, so much has happened since you left that I don't know where to start... First, Dakota is fine and gave birth to a baker's dozen of little (well, not so little any more!) darlings: we named the pick of the litter after you! (She's since had a litter of her own, I hear.) And speaking of which - Surprise! I'm a Daddy! I married Laurel exactly three months after your disappearance... I know it seems a little fast, but we were both in mourning over your apparent loss, and we helped each other carry on... It's still hard to believe that you're sisters, you're both so different (sometimes I feel like I'm robbing the cradle!!) Oh, that reminds me - Laurel made me promise not to forget to wish you a Happy Forty-Sixth Birthday!! I know that you will be delighted to know that you're now the proud aunt of a strapping little boy, Joey, and my beautiful baby daughter Sissy. My Laurel is so bountiful - both times, we barely had to try - and still as slim as the day you left! Dakota just adores the kids! When you come home (fingers crossed!) you can come over to play with all three of them any time you get shore leave! Have to close now, we're expected at Laurel's (yours too!) folks' house for the weekend (again! - yes, it's a big effort with two tiny children and a dog, but we can't deny Mom and Dad their only grandchildren at this precious age!) You should see what they've done with your old bedroom - it's now a wonderful second nursery for our little ones! Best Wishes and Much Love, - Mark (and Laurel) Johnson - p.s. - Laurel says "Happy Valentine's Day, Aunt Cathy!"
