ALT.SF4M Stuff I've Read Recently • p***....@n***.****i.com 14/02/1998 00:00:000 UTC Actually discussing SF here! Just finished Cosm (Gref Benford) and Earthling (Tony Daniels). Both of these ended up as recommended reading by *someone*, but not, I think, by me. Earthling's main problems were the tripart story, the pieces of which were unconnected (and the ending of which was better left off). Anyone know if the parts were original published seperately? Or just the midpart, which actually worked as story, sort of? Cosm was a better read, far more coherent (and how can I not have a soft spot for anything that starts out on Long Island!), but untimately unsatisfying. The indictments of univerty beauracracies were rather heavy handed at times, but fun, the ending left me feeling kind of like he ran out of steam and decided to end the book, rather than actualy *end* the book. Comments, anyone? -- 73 de Dave Weingart KA2ESK, ex KB2CWF "Can you find the Valium? mailto:p***....@****.com Can you bring it soon? mailto:p***....@e******.*********n.edu Lost Johnny's out there http://www.liii.com/~phydeaux Baying at the Moon" -- Hawkwind
