ALT.SF4M SF Forum Anniversary Event • **@***.com 11/11/1998 00:00:000 UTC Just wanted to give this newsgroup an ON TOPIC MESSAGE... I don't see going to the 30th,though I was at the 25th and 20th anniversary events...charging money is a bad innovation. • Stargazer 10/11/1998 00:00:000 UTC Louis Epstein wrote in message ... >Just wanted to give this newsgroup an ON TOPIC MESSAGE... >I don't see going to the 30th,though I was at the 25th and 20th >anniversary events...charging money is a bad innovation. Charging a small fee to cover costs of food, ect. is hardly unreasonable. I was president during the first anniversary party - the 20th - and I remember quite clearly how hard it was to get Polity and other campus organizations to give money for the event specifically because they were annoyed that we weren't charging alumni any admission fee. IIRC the alumni association gave us squat because they felt we should be using the event as a fund raiser for the organization -- rightfully so! --Doc s********r@i********l.net "I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night." --Sarah Williams • George the Gothic Cow 11/11/1998 00:00:000 UTC It's only $15! That doesn't even cover the cost of the food. C'mon, if you don't want to go then don't, but don't ruin anyone else's good time celebrating the Forum's anniversary either. When was the last time that you've even been in the Forum? Five years ago? Have you seen what's been done? Why are you criticizing? He's not ruining anyone else's time, good bad or otherwise. And I'd say he has about as much right as any other Forum alum to express concern over something he doesn't care for, yes? (Why is he criticizing? Because he doesn't agree with it, why else?)
