     Greg Egan's tale software people exploring the universe after Earth

     gets toasted is way cool. Major head-banging here.

     Christopher Priest's The Prestige is a pretty good read. Battling

     stage magicians tell their tales via journals read by relatives. Some

     really creepy moments.

     Vance's Night Lamp is a mellow read; typically Vancian story about an

     orphan growing up on a socially stratified world.
