End of DS9 • j********o@***.com 06/06/1999 00:00:000 UTC An OK episode: a little vague on Odo and the shapeshifter, as with Sisko and Dukot. I wish something more esoteric and poignant had awaited Sisko, like that he was to become (and always had been) the wormhole itself! Amusing that Worf's recollections didn't include his not-so-dearly departed wife! I'm gonna miss having a window on that silly 24th Century - perhaps Voyager will return to the Alpha Quadrant to take up the slack. With Millenium gone, there will be a significant loss to my TV viewing schedule. Around here, they also showed the last Next Generation episode: as I've probably said before, I found it pretty good, and quite fitting. At the time it brought a lot of nostalgia about watching the first crappy episodes (wheeling the TV cart upstairs in Central Hall!) all those years ago. This leads into the melancholic Summer doldrums perfectly. I have got to do some gaming! Gorno "Star Trek was atrocious, as usual." • Stargazer 06/06/1999 00:00:000 UTC JohnGorno wrote in message <1*************.*****.********8@n*****.***l.com>... >An OK episode: a little vague on Odo and the shapeshifter, as with Sisko >and Dukot. Yeah...it was Ok but nearly as good as the final episode of Next Generation. I found the episode very rushed...cramming and trying to tie up loose ends at a frantic pace. Sometimes finishing off storylines just for the sake of ending them! I was disappointed they didn't do anything with the storyline from the previous week. It would've been cool to see Rom, as newly appointed Nagus, order the meager Ferenginar fleet into battle against the Dominion! The whole subplot of "Kai Loser" and "Dull Nugat" had been dropped and then all of a sudden they pick it up again in the last episode. The timeframe was all screwed up: how long was the Kai chanting over Ducat's lifeless body? Three days? You'd think her knees would've start to hurt. They were very vague and rushed through Odo's confrontation with the shapeshifter" "Ok, we win! Next scene!" Some good battle scenes, too short as usual, but they killed off nearly a billion people! Not enough of the main characters got killed off or seriously injured. >I wish something more esoteric and poignant had awaited Sisko, like >that he was to become (and always had been) the wormhole itself! Yes, they've been building up to it for seven years, you'd think they'd come up with something more exciting than throwing a book into a pit of fire. >Amusing that >Worf's recollections didn't include his not-so-dearly departed wife! Odo merged with the shapeshifter and the next thing you know it, she's changed her mind and orders Dominion forces to stand down and surrender. Ostensibly she does it in exchange for Odo going to the shapeshifter home world to cure the race of a terrible disease which Federation secret police have infected them with. But they were very vague about it and rushed through the scene. >How's that again? Yep. Hard to believe. Star Trek wars are usually so bloodless and clean. This time they had a somewhat proper war: attempted geneocide, obliterating cities from orbit, titanic starship battles, ect. More than 800 million casualties. >When did Worf get married? Worf got married to Dax a season or two ago. It was fairly amusing. --Doc • p*******x@****.com 10/06/1999 00:00:000 UTC One day in Teletubbyland, "Stargazer" said:   >>Rom as Nagus? Somehow I don't think Voyager will ever be able to pick up where DS-9 left off. What upsets me is that it's take them years to finally get the intrigue and plot lines really going then they pull the rug out from under the series. I must agree about Worf though.. I would have expected that during those recollection moments that his beloved Dax would have been in there somewhere. On the lighter side.... one of the actors from DS-9/Bab5 (Bill Blair) is going to be in Pittsuburgh the first weekend in November. In that final episode he played 4 different aliens. I'm looking forward to talking with him about that final episode and where he thinks DS-9 will go from here.. There's also going to be an actor from Earth:Final Conflict and Eugene Roddenberry Jr. as well. They have two pretty cool sites.. one at: http://welcome.to/PraxisFoundation and http://praxis99.8m.com. and they're registration costs ($60) are the lowest I've seen in a while and if you pre-register before a certain date, it includes EVERYTHING. This is not a commerical convention.. they do this to raise money for children's charities. Last year they raised over $10,000.00. Later...
