ALT.SF4M By Grabthar's Hammer! • Stargazer 20/12/1999 00:00:000 UTC Never give up -- never surrender! Over the weekend I saw a preview of "Galaxy Quest" at the Newark Museum. It was really good! It was really funny & had good special effects. The characters were well cast: Tim Allen was good as the Kirk-like commander, Sigourney Weaver was a very busty comm officer, Alan Rickman was perfect as the Spock-like science officer, Tony Shalhoub ("Wings")was great as the clueless engineer and Enrico Colantoni (Elliott on "Just Shoot Me") was hilarious as the dim-witted alien leader. Alan Rickman's character, Dr. Lazarus, steals many of the scenes: As a Shakespearean actor, he is repeatedly forced to stoop to repeat the same tired line "By Grabthar's Hammer..." over and over again. The parallels to Trek fandom are quite good -- the movie begins and ends at a "Galaxy Quest" convention complete with goofy fen. A must see (opens Xmas Day)! --Doc s********r@a******x.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night." --Sarah Williams ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - • p*******x@****.com 31/12/1999 00:00:000 UTC One day in Teletubbyland, j********o@***.com (JohnGorno) said: >course, that could just mean he doesn't like and can't judge SF!) I don't think he's ever given a science fiction movie anything over a 6 before (of course, that could just mean he doesn't like and can't judge SF!) I haven't seen it yet - there must be some beef between the promoters and National Amusements, since it isn't at the local multiplex. Gorno "I remember that sound - that's a BAD sound!"
