         The NY Times Arts section is running a series of articles by writers
         on how

         they write. The latest contributer was Susan Sontag (12/18/2000).
         They have a

         web archive somewhere at www.nytimes.com/arts, featuring articles by
         Saul

         Bellow, E.L. Doctorow, and such like. Not science fictional (of
         course).

         upcoming Peter Jackson effort to bring the Lord of the Rings to

         the big screen: (here upcoming translates into approximately

         Dec 2001 so far as I have heard)

         "the trailer for the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie

         will be shown On January 12, at the Sony Theatres Lincoln Square at

         Broadway and 68th at the 10:35am showing of Thirteen Days. We'll

         also have free Tolkien Guild T-shirts for the first 250 attendees,

         lots of great giveaways, free stuff, and some great surprises we're

         still working on!"
