  Preparing for a Trip

     I'm due to fly East next Saturday night. I'm packing light, carry-ons

     only, but since I'm taking a red-eye flight, with a connetion through

     Detroit fer cripes sake, I decided to carry LOTS of reading material*:

     VIA (California's AAA magazine). Yeah, like I have the time and energy

     to go places on the weekend. But the picters are shur pretty.

     VAST by Linda Nagata. Hip lady space opera writer.

     Cassini Division by Kenneth Macleod. Lefty scott postmodern space opera

     writer.

     WIRED. Special Design issue. People who are into Design tend to wear
     black

     carry themselves just so and are currently into blobby shapes, like the

     Oral-B toothbrush with a giant blobiform handle. Also, my name is in it.

     If I show up at a 4M gathering dressed in black, I've gone over the

     edge and you may kill me.

     Manuscript of a David Brin novel.

     Wolf Christmas by Daniel & Jill Pinkwater. For my niece, but I read it

     first.

     Little Lit by Art Spiegelman and his wife. For my nieces, unless I sense

     that she'd be freaked by classic & obscure folk tales done by modern

     comic book artists. In which case my cousins' kid gets it.
