Here's some info and frequently asked questions on how the Forum is operating this year. If you have more questions, please contact us through our facebook page, twitter account, or email.
We actually have two rooms, both in the basement of the new Student Union. Rooms LO6-08 and LO6-09. L06-08 is our library room and L06-09 is our lounge room.
As of right now all eboard members and shiftholders have access to the rooms. Our maximum occupancy limit is 17 people. Any Stony Brook student is allowed into our room and we encourage walk ins!
Currently all GBMs are being held in person in our lounge room at 1 pm on Wednesday. If you would like to know when we have gbms and events click this Calendar. Events are also held in person. we're always talking about what sort of smaller events we'll have but we always have three large events every school year (two in the fall and one in the spring). Historically for small events we have had Jackbox nights, movie nights, presentation days, karaoke, arts and crafts nights, and many more
This is the most asked question by eboard members, it should be noted that the constitution leaves the running and order of meetings to the president; however, historically the order during GBM's is as follows: 1. Start meeting 2. President 3. Vice President 4. Treasurer 5. Secretary 6. Allocations 7. Head Librarian 8. Head Activities Coordinator 9. Historian 10. Head of Public Relations 11. Open forum 12. Old/new business 13. End meeting
If you would like to plan an event speak to your current Head AC(s) (right now thats Sam and Jared) and tell them what your idea is and when you would like to have it, if they like your idea they will make it an official event and you will gain the prestigious title of Sub AC! (not that prestigious but the Head AC(s) will love you).
We didn't physically move anything. Stony Brook hired movers to move things we packed in the SAC to our rooms in the Union. The room had to be packed by 2 people at a time working under small time restraints. I believe we had about 10 total hours in the end. We managed to pack all the books, DVDs, games, and various party supplies/decorations. Yes, we got the rock. However, we were forbidden from bringing any furniture. We managed to get a small budget increase to hopefully buy back what we'll need.
Yes we do, we recently moved more stock into it in April of 2023. We had two but emptied one out to put the material in our library. We have no plans or space to empty out the other storage unit.
Because anyone who tries to remove the protective armor off of it will be struck with bad grades themselves!
The "spiel" is something we say to new people who walk into the forum, it goes like this: "Welcome to the science fiction forum! We're the largest freelending library on the eastern seaboard and we have over 22,000 games, movies, and books of science fiction fantasy and horror. We have Netflix, HBO max, Disney plus, and pretty much every streaming service as well as a giant collection of DVDs. Our official hours are 10am to 6pm monday through friday. We are often here until the building closes at midnight though. We are also the oldest continuously run club on campus. We're older than USG." Feel free to put your own spin on this when new people come in!
Yes it is! Go check for yourself >:)
Yes we are! We are older the USG itself at over 55 years! (ask the historian for more info)
All you have to do is willingly walk through our doors twice
anything labeled under science fiction, fantasy, and/or horror is acceptable. Check the Bingo for more details

NO!!! but also yes. Currently Animated Perspectives is in charge of anime and Tabletop Club is in charge of tabletop roleplaying games but we often do many crossover events with these clubs. If you are an eboard member of one of these clubs/any on campus club and would like to do a crossover event with us please speak to the current president and we would be happy to arrange an event with you :)
Great! Unfortunately; however, our library is packed to the ceiling in books and knicknacks so we are not accepting donations :( If you would like to donate things anyway, please don't (-Chloe <3).
